The two goals are complete opposites which can't really be put together in the same routine. It's impossible to eat less calories per day when you are eating more calories, right? For this reason, so many people train without any goal and therefore get no results.

The easiest way to build a more muscular body while dropping weight is to separate your goals and work on them individually. If you want to drop fat first and then focus on building, you should do that. If you want to build first then you should structure your diet and training with that in mind.

When you deem yourself to have reached your first goal you can focus on the second.

By separating each goal you will notice results far easier to come by.

When it comes to hypertrophy the old principles haven't changed much over the years, either. If you deem your primary goal to be adding size and strength then you should apply some of the old classic rules such as compound exercises, high carbohydrates and plenty of good sleep.

While you may wish to learn how to lose weight while figuring out how to build muscle at the same time, the fact is you will get fat better results by simply focusing on one thing at a time.
